*Cue another iPod vs nonPod thread!*
iPod's are ok if it's what you really want but there are cheaper, equally as good, players out there. Creative do some good players, Microsoft have the Zune also. Then there are iRivers etc. Shop around. ![]() |

not heard anything about it or ever used one but when it first came out the Zune got some REALLY bad press.
I'd try out a mate's iRiver and iPod if possible - then pick the one you like best/can afford. I've got a shuffle which suits me fine - I just autofill it every couple of days and it's tiny and random which is what I like. My flatmate has a 4GB nano which she loves and I like it a lot from the times I've used it. I've not used any of the competition at all though. |

Phillips GoGear.
£100 + 30gb = very yes. i have one, the first one didnt work but they sent me a new one pretty quick. it'll freeze/go into a loop every now and again, you just have to reset it and it'll sort itself out. i would vote for the gogear and not for ipod. |

The Zune is a piece of crap. Don't buy it. It has restrictive liscencing software (or something) meaning you can only listen to a song a certain amount of times then it will be wiped. I think this is only applicable if you are buying your music from their online store, which is the only way you can legally d/l music and put it on your Zune as it doesn't support aac.
I'm super happy with both iPod's I've had. I had a 4gb mini and even though it was 2nd hand (and worse for wear) it's still going with it's new owner. My 30gb iPod is also 2nd hand but I've had no problems so far with it at all. My advice is to try have a play with a few before you buy something. I tried out my brothers iRiver and had a lok at a creative zen before I bought my 30gb iPod. |

Aye, there's no restrictions there, as long as the format is supported.
Not sure about the weird ones like Ogg Vorbis etc and I'm not sure if it plays WMA either as I convert everything to mp3 in iTunes but it will let you play music that you have downloaded from p2p or other illegal means, yes. |

i have an ipod mini, its good, apart from when it deicides not to work for a few months then ressurect itself, plus the battery is fucked, was meant to last 8 hours but that gets worse gradually. ive had it for 2 years and its down to 4 hours of play when fully charged.
new ones might be better, but a lot of people have had these same issues with ipods from a couple of years back. i would try other players first. |

![]() Rob is right too. The battery power on my mini diminished greatly. I've not experienced problems with my 30gb but I've heard that it happens to all. |

my 30GB iPod battery lasted all through flights from Edinburgh to Paris, then Paris to the States, was pretty impressed as its probably about 10 and a half hours of playback.
