Summer Drinks
I'm sure everyone in the area of the 'Dee has noticed the nice weather we'v had over the last few days and hopefully it'll last.
I was just interested to hear if anyone else changes their drinking habits when the sun's out and it gets hotter. I usually drink beer but when the weather gets better or i'm on holiday i'd rather drink lighter, crisp lagers - Corona, Budweiser or Sol - and Gin with tonic and fresh squeezed lime. I never normally drink spirits but Gin is really refreshign adn good onve you'v been in the sun for hours on end. What abotu everyone else? Anything unusual or interesting? |

I'v never been a fan of Pimms, i was never too kean on bits floating in my glass.
I'd agree with Vikrum though on having to use expensive gin - Bombay Saphire or Hendrick's are the two i'd buy. The problem I have with lager is that it can make you feel bloated too easily which isnt the best if your kicking a ball around a park or having a bbq. |

Lager generally tastes crap whatever the weather but it is more refresing in Summer, a nice crisp cider is good in hot weather too, but I generally like Belhaven 80'-

Stella, gin an juice with fruit and ice or any kind of cocktail.
i agree with whoever said cider is a guaranteed hangover. it sucks eh? its something to do with the high sulphate levels in cheap cider, i can drink beer and spirits for days with no real hangover, the second im sober after a few liters of cider tho and it feels like my head could quite possibly and very easily implode. ![]() |

I like vodka water and ice in a tall glass in the summer. maybe some lime in there too. refreshing much!
Cider and ice is the summer classic too. My listening habits tend to change in the summer too. Lots of 'converse-core' pop-punk (the first two Green Day records - summer classics!), old ska/reggae records, mellow hip-hop ('pauls..' era Beasties, Jurassic 5 etc...), Jangly upbeat indie tunes. Goes well with sun, ball games and slowly inebriating yourself. |
