Suicide Note Part 1
hello fellow music lovers, this has the potential to be financial suicide for us Ghosts Of The American Dead, but I've decided that this Punk VS. Metal deally i've been harping on about will have the incredibly generous admission charge of £3.50 for a whole weekend ticket - I can't stoop any lower than that and i doubt there'll be many complaints concerning the price.
The whole "band contribution" thing will be simple - each band gives me the low price of £5 per band - that will bring the band contributions to £85 and we will cover the remaining £290 we will organise the 3000 free full-colour flyers and 100 free full colour posters and deal with the distribution (well, pay others to deal with the distribution) ...i'm going with this low band contribution and low admission because i;m basically wanting to organise an event that we'll all enjoy and not have to worry about the cost of organising - with the low admission charge it'll be much better for attracting people to see bands that they've not heard and branching out and gaining a (kind of) larger fanbase. I'm gonna speak to Ian at the Cotton Club about drinks promotions for the event also - let's see what kind of deals I can get for Jack Daniels for all us hard rockers!!! right, if you've got any concerns or whatever just give me a shout, cheers. |

Surley you'll reimburst the bands if there is a good turn out and split the profits to cover petrol. Some of us are coming from a long way away to play this show. I'm sure there will be a great turn out.
You don't want anyone to be at a loss though, especially the bands. Although you think it's good publicity, it is just Dundee and not a lot of bands get signed by playing there. Remember not everyone from all the bands live in Dundee either. You're going to pay people to dist flyers? Why don't you ask the bands to do that and not ask for a fee. I still think you could put the price up. For two days of music and drink promos £2.50 per night is still really cheap. Worth thinking about i say? What do you think? |

...I try to have an event for all the right reasons and i get some money grabbing scheme thrown at me???
*yes, the bands will be reimbursed if they are coming for a-far *no, i'm not gonna change the price of it because I want a better turn out than i'd come to expect from the bands *I seriously didn't expect any complaints for £5 per band for a gig that's costing fucking £375 to book - ah well, you live and learn |

I know what Lees's trying to say, coz it's good to get some petrol money for playing a gig, but for a gig like this it'll be pretty hard to give all the bands money, there's too many, so having to pay £5 really isn't that bad, it's only £1.25 each member, hell I'll even pay the whole fiver if no one else will chip in, it's not gonna break the bank.

now now young man there's no need to take that tone.
I'm just concerned that the bands will be paying more towards it than you expect the punters to pay if you're including the cost of getting there. I think you'll easilly break even at least, from the door. Misled Youth have put on loads of shows for other bands in the past and always tried to have a good fair ethic and etiquette. I'ts not about money grabbing , it's about not costing anyone i.e promoter and bands. I wouldn't expect to any band to pay out of their own pocket so i, as a fan, could have a cheaper than average night out. It's about everyone having a good night, that means the bands too. So if you think £2.50 is too much to see some top quality local bands, then you can't think too much of them... ![]() |

well said lee*claps*. ur looking at it as breaking even if the best happens, uve got to expect the worse n plan for that, what u going to do if only 75(a decent crowd in dundee these days) ppl turn up thts only 187.50 quid wheres the rest of the money going to come from? u cant expect bands to divide it, ull have to pay it as ur the promoter, i know u cant charge 20quid a ticket but u got to have sense in pricing it
