e-luv: An Internet Romance by Dave Roberts
This is a great little book from Dave Roberts. It's a story about a man called Trevor who finds himself suffering from an unspecified illness, gets fired, finds himself in a huge heap of debt and alone in his house with no furnature and just his computer for company.
Slowly he begins to find himself loosing his friends and making new ones on the internet and embarks and a voyage through cyberspace to find love and relationship.
The book is layed out like a diary of events, day by day, hour by hour and we are exposed to his daily thoughts and the events which take place both in his real life and his new life on the internet.
It's a pretty comical book and I found myself gigging to myself a few times on the train by from London. I have to say also that it was cringeworthy in places as some of the events explained in the book will have been experienced by any number of those reading this book.
If you have ever been in a chatroom or used discussion forums this book will no doubt spark alarm bells and have you questioning your life on the internet in ways you didn't imagine.
I bought this book on a recent trip to London to read while on the tube and the train back. It's a 160 page book and I managed to finish it off in less than 3 hours on the train back.
