Cage Roomers

Earlier today on the bus, I overheard two people talking about Cage nightclub.

The conversation was basically between two people who do not often go out and were curious about an alternative club (Cage).

The part of the conversation I overheard went something along the lines of:

Person 1 - “I was told by ****** the other day that if anyone turns up to cage and is not dressed appropriately then they get a kickin”

Person 2 – “Really”

Person 1 – “Yeah, apparently people have been beaten up because they are not dressing in black or something”

Person 2 – “well fuck going there then”


It’s because of these kinds of Rumours that the nights at cage are becoming so cleeky. I have hardly seen a new face in the club over the past year. If these roomers are going about then some people may be to scared to come along to the club.

The word has to be put out that alternative nightclubs in Dundee are a friendly and welcoming pace to go.

If these Rumours continue, then it is more than likely that the alternative nights at Cage will dry-up.

possibly, but you're not out that often anymore either.

There are people that have started comin in the last year!! But it could also be that as well as cage there is the balconay, the beat bar, the reading rooms and the unions.... and dundee union has its metal night and its rock night.

Though it seems a small 'scene'..its pretty extensive in its versatility. Also I sound a dick....but I don't want too many new faces... I don't want to get turned away as there's too many people.

I don't think it's just Cage. Those kind of rumours have been going on about alternative venues in Dundee for years.

I remember when I was in high school, people telling me that you'd get the shit kicked out of you if you went to the Cellar bar, wearing the wrong kind of t-shirt. Then again, I suppose the fact that the guy who told me that was a compulsive liar should have given the game away.

A lot of people seem to have the false impression that the Balcony is quite a scary place too.

See, you say its supposed to be a friendly night out, but last night i had some total twat (drummer from The Try Hards) trying to start shit with me because i have a "fringe". And im no the only one that fanny's tried to start shit wi before. Theres surely some way of stopping people like that from ruining the music community, cuz the way he acted only makes me think punks in Dundee are total cunts (which ive been told when their not drugged up or pissed, their actually not bad people).

Actually (don't quote me on this) but I've gheard that due to low numbers last term Dundee Union are scrapping al their rock nights. And the Beat Bar is about to become a Piano Jazz bar lol (it's a shame really, imagine what future foreigners reunions will be like)

jeese its a total pure unadulterated fact that the chav lad will fight you in the mardi or london so i dont know what they are on about the cage is the safest place in dundee but somtimes you get a few fuckheads in who feel uncomfortable and wana fight that hapend too me last week.

the cage is great but i totally wish it would change venue

We're lucky to have the venue we do, it's very hard to find a club willing to take a chance with an alternative night, Brian's been really good to us.
