![]() also as far as the cage music goes, sure tons of people request stuff thats mainstream or whatever etc but ffs doug actually has stuff by relativly unknown sweedish metalers the deathstars aswell (mon the cyanide) which still only my brother and i seem to love hehe. i like the variation in cage its only really my chemical romance that makes me hide in the ladies room till better music is on in a few mins.don't even get me started on the underage thing though. |

i dont think its a music problem for the simple fact that from my point of view i never listen much to the music cause im too pissed, and if i feel the song is rubbish i just ignore it (i know somewhere in the club someone is happy
), but as a result for some reason i think the atmosphere in the club stinks, cant put my finger on why its prob just me?and as for the under age thing it will come to a head when some wee bint gets knocked up from being pissed in the club and mummy and daddy have a fit (general rule i USED to follow if there in a club their old enough for some shlong action |

I think a mixture of music is played at Cage is played now, more so than when I started going out as now there is Jag, Entropy etc... to cater for peoples more aquired tastes.
These arguements about requests, what should and shouldn't be played blah blah, have been going on for years (since when I was a tot ) Doug does try to play requests and please as many people as is possible, as far as I've been able to see. A variety of music is played, as 'alternative' is a pretty broad range of music and the people who go to cage obviously have a variety of different tastes. Obviously not everyones requests can be played week in, week out. People should perhaps try to be a bit more tolerent of this? As for the underager thing. If people suspect underagers are in the club, why not stop whinging about it constantly and have a word with door staff or whatever? If and when I ever do, I don't have a problem saying, as I don't want my weekends out to be ruined by younger people not realising the consequences of what they're doing (cage losing license etc, cause I know when I was younger I didn't think of it like that.) xx |

Personally, I think the reason that the atmosphere isn't nearly as good as it used to be is through sheer number of people that are there on a Saturday now.
Used to be you could come along on a Saturday, not have to worry too much about finding a seat, as well as know just about everyone there. Now a great many people that I really knew have stopped going (don't actually know they're reasons, but I'm sure they're varied) and I'm lucky if I can get a drink within 15-20 mins of reaching the peripheral of the 5 row deep queue to the bar. So that atmosphere for a lot of people has gone from being a place you can enjoy yourself where everyone's friends (or friends of friends) to 'just another club'. It's lost it's group sense! As for the underagers things... certainly I've seen a few that I've been dubious about, but then I also know a great many people that look much younger than they really are. Plus, the older I get, the younger everyone looks. Even pulling out a picture of myself at 18, I realise just how much younger I looked then compared to myself 6 years on. |

there are underagers there every week and some stricter id' policies would
be helpful.... you could start to warn people in advance that they will be required to bring id as alot of folk dont usually carry it, and then in a few weeks, bring on the strict id'ing and see what happens. Everytime im there i end up speaking to 16 and 17 year olds, who don't seem fussed at telling me they are only this old??? the worst was the two 15 year olds last time i was there who sneeked in, tho this was dealt with. you may be thinking why don't i tell the security of all these underagers i meet...? i have done from time to time, but i would rather not spend the night running about grassin up every underager i meet. i know it happens in all other clubs to but it would be nice if it didnt happen in cage ![]() |

I quite like it when it's busy, personally. More interesting. I always lose my seat, whether it's busy or not, unless my friends and I are guarding each others seats, so it's all the same to me.
While I understand the "we're losing our club to a generation with shittier music taste" thing, this is no different from the days when nu-metal was really popular. At least this time, while there are a lot of younger people that like absolute shite, at least a lot of younger people like quality bands too. Would you have heard 18 year olds saying how great In Flames were, back in the days of nu-metal? No. I don't understand the "this place has no community atmosphere" thing though. I went to Fat Sams on Friday (after a work night out), and within half an hour I was down at Entropy, despite the fact that I hate punk, and had a great night. If you want "no community atmosphere" then try going to someplace like Fat Sams, and compare it with Le Cage. I might not feel like I fit in quite as much as I did in the days of Kerosene at Fatties, and Coalesce at the Union, but at the same time I still feel a hell of a lot more comfortable at the rock nights in Dundee, than anywhere else. Also, I've met so many awesome people, that were too young to go out in the days of Kerosene at Fat Sams, since my two year absence, so it's all good. I just wish there weren't so many emus out these days. Fucking Rod Hull |

On the subject of underagers - OF COURSE, none of use ever went into pubs/clubs when we were underage? Ahem. Speaking as an ex-barman, I always found it easy to spot underage guys but not underage women (make up can add a fair few years on). Maybe the security have a similar problem?
Still no excuse for them to be so blatant and acting like knobs and yes, they shouldn't be there. |

true we went into places underage but we probably pissed off people like they do to us now!
and there is a lot of people of myspace going on about going to Cage every weekend when they are 16ish. the door staff do have a issue IDing people but they do tend to know the people that are underage and therefore dont ID them. and the atmosphere in Cage is now more like fatties, you might meet a few people you know, you might not, however at least the bar staff, dj's and door staff are friendly and approachable. give Cage credit where its due. also as far as the music playlist is advertised as rock, does this mean rock and roll? or is one person able to define where rock begins and ends? i dont mind what gets played as at the end of the day i go to cage to drink some beer and have a night out with my friends! |

obviously it is illegal, but it is common knowledge that it happens and most of us did it. i dont mind bumping into the odd 17 year old....its the 15 and 16 year olds that are the problem, they could easily be taken advantage of and end up in dangerous situations. a 15/16 year old girl isn't going to have a clue what to do if her mate gets her drink spiked ? |
