What Is Up With Cage Just Now?
Why is there so many blatantly underage people in cage? I've id'd most of them in the pub and none have id so how come they get in cage? Some of the girls look like they're about 14. Its really getting on my tits an a few other folks as well cos they have no idea how to behave or act in the club. Maybe this is just me growing old & seeing new faces coming in an not liking it? Working in a pub i know what underagers look like & act like & i think there's definately a problem at cage regarding this issue.
Also the music being played lately in cage seems to be heading in a more indie rock almost pop music style direction. I've heard the killers, skunk anansie, garbage & a few others played there regularly. I can stomach listening to nu-metal & punk cos thats still part of the same scene or whatever you want to call it, but indie & pop isnt really part of the normal cage playlist as far as i've ever been aware. This kinda brings me onto my other point of why the hell are there so many neds & casuals descending on cage just now? is it cos of this more mainstream approach to music? Or just cos they can't get in anywhere else so just end up comin into our club & fallin about like the drunken drugged up jakeballs that they are? Sorry for the long post but just that the last few weekends at cage have really pissed me off with the bad atmosphere & kids being knobs etc etc. p.s. before anyone says it i'm not one of these "MEEEETAAALLL!!! PLAY FUCKING PANTERA!!! WHHOOOAAHH YEEAHH!!!" type metalheads that frequent the club & are pissed off about their favourite Slayer song not being played. I have no problem with a mix of punk, industrial & metal at cage. |

Everything you've said are the same reasons I stopped going to hip hop nights in and around Dundee. It'd be a shame if it happened at Cage too. Yes i know it's not a hip hop club/night, but i still enjoyed going to it when I had the time.

i refuse to go to cage. i have not been since long before chrimbo was standing beside that door yesterday talking to gav and that is the closest i have been a few of my friends still go as they can think of nothing better to do... but general opinion is that the music and the atmosphere suck.... i know it is not the DJs fault.. but jesus fall out boy - i hope that is not true *prepares to hear about avenged sevenfold and panic at the disco! being played* Last edited by azpazzagus : 19th March 2006 at 10:40 PM. |

Not been to Cage on a Saturday for a good few weeks, the main reasons being the music and the people that go.
No offence to Doug as without him there prob wouldn't be a Club cage, but the music is much more mainstream than before. I know that could be due to requests etc. so it's not entirely down to the DJ but the musics not really to my taste and sometimes not alternative at all. The past couple of times I have been I haven't noticed a lot of underagers but there has been an influx of neds and people who are just arsehole ruining other folks nights. |

I love cage but i have to say the under-agers are what is putting me of going. It wouldnt be so bad if they werent immature little shits that act like utter fannies. My wee cousin is on myspace now and her mates are on myspace too. i was reading their comments about being at cage this weekend and they are 14-16years old. I'm not having a go but surely there must be something that can be done about it.

I get on well with the bouncers at cage like and they're among some of the soundest in dundee and always deal well with any situation involving fights etc. I just dunno why their id policy seems to be so bad. I see a lot of the underage looking girls chatting happily away to the door staff most nights & it makes ya wonder if they're getting in cos they know the door staff or what not.
And Nikki yer right about the way they act. I've been subjected to having bowfin lookin 15 year old girls snogging the face off each other because thats whats cool to do when yer that age. My girlfriends spoken to some of them in the toilets & they've been cheeky as fuck & she's really had to stop herself from smacking fuck out of them cos she doesn't want to get chucked out. Obviously the people that have posted so far in this thread isn't a majority of people that go to cage but obviously there is a fair few folk with the same opinion and that usually means there's a problem. |

i generally dont mind cage...generally cos im pissed and have shiona tunnel vision and ignore anyone i cant be arsed speaking to
i find the drama created by underagers to be quite amusing to watch, perhaps the first time...the fake lesbian shit is annoying maybe a stint of id-ing everyone is needed, with a bit of a sensible approach |

I never really go to cage anymore to be honest but the last few times I've went (maybe six times in the last year) I've noticed a ton of obvious underagers.
I pointed this out in another thread and was swiftly shot down and assured there aren't any though. |

The requests have been becoming a lot more mainstream of late, maybe it's time to stop paying so much attention to them then? Though Skunk Anansie and Garbage have always been regulars on the Cage playlist. As for the underage thing, there are a lot of really young looking 18 year olds, but i will speak to the doormen about it. |

The way I see it, when I started going to Cage 6 – 7 years ago (when it was Swamp) it was always stuff like coal chamber, papa roach etc that was played. the ‘mainstream’ metal of the period will always be played.
However, even though I don’t go that often anymore, I have noticed a lot more mainstream music being played lately. |

Gotta stick with Doug on this one as far as music is concerned. He is playing what the majority of folk ask for, i've been there at the booth when requests come in. People will always complain that a club is not to thier liking, rubbish music, people too young etc etc. it has always been the same at every rock club in Dundee from Angels, Jaspers, Ceasers, Kerosene, Swamp, Cage, Coalesce and the newer ones.
Look at Kerosene when it was the main rock club, we played skunk anansie, radiohead, REM along with a lot of other indie/rock hits of the day whih the metallers never liked, but we also played heavier stuff too. It is what a mainstream club HAS to do. It's just fuckin' lucky we have specialised nights on Fridays to cater for specific genres of the metal/rock/goth/punk crowd. Dundee has never had that before. Times change folks, yes you get older and the new kids get younger and they like music you don't. Ya gotta live with it people and adapt. As for the underage thing, that is entirely down to security who are an outside firm and it is their responsibility, not the clubs and not the DJ's. The neds issue is a different matter, we don't have a policy on entry of NO NEDS but I agree it does stir up shit when they come in.So may have to look at that one. |
