Last song of the night

I've been thinking about the songs i play at the end of the night and, whether or not playing a silly song is always the best option. See, i like playing something silly because then everyone knows that the night has come to an end. But then, of course, some of the things i play end up being promoted to main part of the night songs, take David Bowie's - Dance Magic for example.

So what do you think?

A bang or cheese.

I used to like it when tenacious D was played at end of night, but I also enjoyed prodigy and faithless near the end at the Halloween festivites.

But it def. should be different to rest of night so we know its time to reach for or find our stuff, arrange lifts and parties etc etc.

i personally really dont like "wacky," or "hilarious," songs, should play some prodigy, faithless, aphex twin (not come to daddy), or some old school hip hop/electro?

I prefer something to go out with a bang. Just because I am more than likely to dance to the very last minute and still be all buzzy whereas when the DJ plays a silly song, I'm sorta just groaning inwardly.

But then, I hardly ever go to Cage anymore anyway, and if I do, I hardly ever dance. So ... that was pointless.

Dunno bout that though... I always think of the mardi when I hear the dirty dancing medley being played...it was ALWAYS played at the end of the night. You don't want it to be like that. but if it was an immesne song it would be good.

Maybe not so much of a wacky song, but I think kids tv theme tunes can be good to finish on or just theme tunes in general. Bullseye, Wacky Races, Magic Roundabout etc.

Agreed, the Mission in Edinburgh plays Wayne County and the Electric Chairs - Fuck Off as a last song, i've not played it yet, maybe one day.

That used to be Kerosenes end signature. We would play old TV themes to finish.

Memorable ones were Grange Hill, Jim'll Fix It, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Danger Mouse and Jossies Giants

Oh I did like it though if a DJ plays The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air tune at the end. Cause you end up singing it all the way home.

I think a good idea is just to pick classic songs/themes that you know at least 99% of people will love.

Jim'll Fix It, now that really would get me going home on a high. Ofcourse I'd get pissed off when I got home cause I'd have sobered up and have realised he fixed fuck all for me.
