Vocalist and musicians wanted : Relocating Folk Punk band (don't laugh yet!) SCOTLAND
I'm looking for musicians for reform my old Folk Punk band from Brighton. I'm now based in Dundee, looking to set the band up either locally or in Edinburgh.
I'm the electric violinist (hope that doesn't put your off). I may have found a lead vocalist who will work as a front man, in the vein of John Lydon/Iggy Pop, but don't know until we can start rehersing with a band. I'm still looking for drums/bass/guitar. If you get a chance, can you have a listen to these mp3's and let me know what you think? http://www.madfiddler.com/audio/Tric...ker%20Boys.mp3 http://www.madfiddler.com/audio/Tric...0Spartacus.mp3 http://www.madfiddler.com/audio/Tric...ots%20Dead.mp3 These tunes are really a starting point. I want to add more technology into the set, perhaps a DJ, electronic percussion and loops, maybe even a brass section once things are moving, who knows.. I'd like to get the band up and running pretty quickly - just depends on finding the musicians, get a new demo recorded, and get onto the Scottish/North England gig circuit asap. Would look to doing at least Fri and Sat night gigs every week, looking towards festivals in the UK and Europe - I'd love to do Glastonbury again! I do need the members to be up for it, musically sound. Vocals need to be male, but the rest can be either - or in between I guess. Age, doesn't matter if you're up for it. I'm 31. As for me, I've played with a number of bands in and around the UK for the past 10 years. I've also got a 1.4kw PA system for the smaller venues... If you're interested, have questions etc. etc. email me mark at madfiddler . co . uk . Dunno if this is going to work, as I have no idea about the Scottish music scene, ho hum. Also, have a website http://www.madfiddler.co.uk Thats the speech, Cheers for now, Mark. Last edited by madfiddler : 24th May 2004 at 05:55 PM. |

I guess the vocalist has to have a John Lydon/Iggy Pop sound and persona. As for the instrumentation... it could go anywhere really, one thing it will never be, is diddly diddly music. Hopefully someone's going to hear this stuff and think "wow, I'd like to play that". Who knows... but we had a good crowd, did a fair few festivals, incl. Glastonbury in 2000, and I just want to take it to that stage and beyond. Get a demo recorded, get an agent, let them do the work booking gigs, although I've got a few places worth taking it around the Midlands etc... then there's the festivals in Europe where this would go down a storm, in the Summer (too late for this year) too. Not even sure it would go down well in Scotland - who knows... but I've gotta give it a bash ![]() |

Hey, well, send me an email if ya don't mind. Just tell me a bit about your, experience, location etc. If you've got any recordings, that makes things easier.
Had an email from a drummer last night in Lothien... that's it so far... The hardest thing is going to be finding the right vocalist, I'm sure. Forgot to mention, I already have a 1.4 kw PA, so that'll do for the smaller venues without a house PA Cheers, Mark. Last edited by madfiddler : 4th April 2004 at 11:30 PM. |

Thanks for that. Comeon peeps.....To be honest, if you're a free musician, I'd be interested in knowing why this sound doesn't interest you. The style/sound isn't set in stone.... just the fact that there's a catalogue of songs ready to get gigging asap.... |

i think part of the problem is your experience sounds a little daunting to us... most people here dont have that kinda experience.

bryter_layter - You got any recordings/mp3's mate?
Clogs - Hmm, OK... I've edited my post. I'm not after virtuosos, just people that can play in time, in tune, and musically flirt when the need arises ![]() If this doesn't work, I'll have to submit and get my new advert "electric violinist looking for band" up and running. I haven't done a gig for a year now, and I need a reason to be paying out for this 6 string fretted violin I've ordered... |
