Discount Hi-MiniDisc Player
Hi.
Im in a slightly (well more than slightly) despirate situation right now in that I purchased a MiniDisc player it turns out I REALLY cant afford. Its a Hi-MD Walkman MZ-NH600, which plays Hi-MiniDiscs (up to 45 cds stored on one disc) The Sony shop in Dundee currently have a sale on it, and are selling the unit for £75, however, it does not come with a Battery, Charger, or any Discs. Once you add it all together it, comes to £100 for the required equipment and just 1 Hi-Disc. Im offering to flog this in BRAND NEW and unused condition, WITH BATTERY, CHARGER, a Hi-Minidisc and some regular ones. Im hoping maybe I could get 85 for it, but Im at a loss, so anyone got an offer? |

Theres a particularly smarmy cunt in the shop who grinned and said "Im sorry. If theres nothing wrong with it I dont have to take it back, its the law"
Its true of cource, but he could have at least been polite. |

Tell the guy that the guy who sold it to you said you could bring it back if it wasnt compatible with your shitty stereo... if he doesn't believe you demand to speak to the manager. Who served you first time round "Oh, i dunno, a tall guy with dark hair... he's not here just now... wait, that might be him there."
If the manager denies you - ask who his manager is so you can write to him... and so on... eventually - someone will grant you a refund. (and every time you get knocked back - the more pissed off you're allowed to be cos you're time has been wasted and they may throw in some vouchers for compensation.) NEVER LET THE MAN WIN!! |

*bump*
I can also throw in one of those nifty things were you can control the player from the headphone wire. I will try and return it again. But the only issue is that the Sont Shop is small. Pretty much the entire staff were present when i got it, and the guy seems to be the manager\owner (its a franchise I think). Id write to the local franchise manager but theres no address for complaints on their website and Id have to ask for it in person. Im a little guy. Its hard to take me seriously, but Im going to write and say Im dissapointed with the mannor of the sales staff. |

If the MD is unused and you still have all the packaging, invoice etc then I would take it back. If they start shit well say you have spoken to trading standards and they say you are entitled to a full refund Good luck m8 |

I think the law is that you can return any electrical goods within 14 days of purchase, whether broken or not, if you feel the product is not appropriate for your needs.
But apart from that, the whole managers trick is always worth a shot. you could always get the address for the customer relations/complaints dept. You could complain about the attitude of the staff in the shop to them. E. |

Thanks. But This guys pretty rude, and I think I need to have evidence of any laws before I start flaunting them sadly.
I looked up cooling periods and such. Consumer rights websites said that they only apply to credit agreements. I cant say I totally understand but I purchased with debit anyway. "I think the law is that you can return any electrical goods within 14 days of purchase" If you could tell me where you found that out, it would help imensely. |
