it was good in the beginning becuase it was so imtimate and nearly everyone knew each other. Its good now in a different way though, its like theres a really energetic atmosphere and its more exciting and you can act like a drunken twat with discretion :P

Old Felt, new Felt.. it's not really any different, bar the amount of people going. Personally I've no qualms over jumping around in front of loads of people or on my own, I find that a quiet dancefloor would probably make me more self conscious or more of a "performer", depending on my level of drunkness. More often than not, probably more self-conscious. Anyway.
Yeah. I liked the atmosphere quiet, but I also like it busy. Quiet was cool and it coincided with dark winter nights and it felt all cosy and intimate, but it being busy and it getting light real early can be pretty cool too. This type of thing always arises in the Felt threads every so often, and I feel like I'm sitting on the fence all the time and repeating myself over and over.. I like it regardless of how busy it is and as great as quiet Felt was, it wouldn't have lasted past mid January had it not grown in popularity as I think it wouldn't have been as commercially feasible for the club that was hosting it. Anyway. I'm out of here.. ![]()

I know that a lot of the same people go, but I also know that a lot of other, different people go. Yes, some of them might have simply discovered it later and really like the music being played, and that's great. It's fairly apparent, though, that assorted other people don't fit into this category, and are there because it's the cool place to be. It's not like I have a problem with everyone who's there and want it to be totally empty; I just enjoy the ability to move and breathe.
In my opinion, there is not anything wrong with dancing to a song that you don't know, if you are dancing while thinking it sounds good. But when I have no space to move due to 25 people who are just dancing to everything that comes on regardless of what it is, it can be quite irritating, and it's currently happening almost every week. I go to Felt to dance to songs I like and have fun, and doing so is getting ever more difficult. Tell me to get the stick out of my ass, whatever, I can't help the fact that I am not overflowing with confidence. Of course, perhaps these people just happen to like everything that's ever played, but I think that would be a very large coincidence. So yeah, I have an issue with people who like Speedway taking up the dancefloor when something good is on. Blah blah blah blah blah. I still like Felt / the idea behind it or I wouldn't go, but I'd just prefer if it would stop being the HOT HANGOUT for everyone and anyone, because I don't think that its being cool is the best incentive for going. And that's all. And I didn't mean to type so much. |

I agree! when you are dancing, and a song you don't know comes on, you must vacate the room, the building, and the country! in fact why not kill yourself for not being indie enough.
