theres something like felt in edinburgh but i cant rememeber the name! but it obviously would never live up to the felt reputation

i think its a grand idea to 'tour' felt every so often.

i'd probably come to felt in edinburgh. you might have a problem getting a good venue though, theres a million club nights there. you couldn't really get a 'smoking' venue either

It being smoking or not doesn't bother me really.

I do know that a load of people come due to the "relaxed" atmosphere of the Reading Rooms but this makes me sadder than it makes me happy to be honest.

Not that I have any particularly ultra-strong opinion AGAINST it, I just don't see what all the fuss is about it.

I know a lot of people would be there just to do that, just because it's the Reading Rooms and the music or whatever is irrelevant to them.

Personally, I think that "smoking" makes good people terribly dull and is the most insular, self-indulgent waste of time ever.. at least people can share in my drunken-ness and cruelty and enjoy it. Being the only sober one I'm sure can be a drag sometimes, but it cannot compare to being the only one "unstoned" as your respect for your friends dwindles as they become complete arseholes one way or another.

I am however good friends with people who smoke, but for that brief period from skinning up to talking shite and thinking they're funny I disown them.

These things also annoy me:

Anything with a hash leaf motif
Novelty bongs, usually involving a stoned alien
The "stoned" scene in The Breakfast Club

That is all.

Anyway, this is nothing really to do with the club except that I am just saying that I would hope that people come primarily cause of the music and to have a good time rather than it being a highly tolerant place for them to get caned to in the corner. In fact I'd hope that they come only for the music rather than any "hip to be square" factor or being dragged along or basically, any reason.

Coming just to see me is ok too.

Basically, I'm not condemning "smoking", as I say I know a lot of people who enjoy it: some of them really great people. I'm just condemning "smoking" for myself.

Whatever you do here is fine by me, as long as you dance sometimes or at least enjoy most of the songs!

Sorry if I came across preachy, turns out I must have 'ultra-strong' views on it...

PS. Also I wasn't getting at you Ally_G, I was just saying this cause it's something that is always on my mind. Plus most other forums are boring right now.. let's get some Kilroy-esque Kontroversy on the go.
