Boston
Hey gang. I'm on my own in an internet place just now, so I thought I'd post here.
America is an odd place. They do get confused when I ask for "chips" and "juice" and get referred to coffee shops when I ask the (over-friendly) concierge where I can go for "tea". I also habitually say "Ta" and "likes" and "Bruhlliant" which I'm told they won't understand at all. It's not as customer service orientated as I thought it would be. Boston's also not as trashy as I'd have hoped. No neon-lit malls that sell popcorn in the courtyard, it's all designer boutiques and lattes and things. Went to a mini music festival in the street yesterday, so I got to see Elefant, The Rapture, Violent Femmes, Von Bondies and Stellastarr and THE PRESIDENTS OF THE USA a load of other stuff for just $20 which was good. Met Rapture guy at the end and was my usual drunk asshole self and said "I CAME ALL THE WAY FROM SCOTLAND TO SEE YOU... GIVE ME STUFF" so I got a tiny foam paintbrush and the set list and he ruffled my hair and I laddishly gave him an affectionate pat on the side (the kind that make that hollow noise, like wrestling your dog if anyone knows what I'm on about). Mmmm.. don't know what else to report, just bought a load of stuff and oh I GOT A TWINKIE FOR DANIEL! Well, Twinkies for all because they are like super sweet Swiss roll things and are really repulsively artificial tasting. LIKE THE WHOLE DAMN CULTURE. Nah, it is really nice but there's only so much of it you can take.. I went to New York and that was pretty good as well, but it was very busy and scary to start with and loud but then, once you got used to it, I could see how you could love it. Like me and boisterous people. Things are cheap here and I don't really feel like I'm on holiday, I've unfortunately had my spirits quashed by just seeing the red H&M logo and I've been in the dreaded H&M in NYC and here in Boston so so many times. They're not as good workers as me though, well they probably work harder but they are fairly rude and up themselves, as are people who work in any record stores over here, comic stores and also Urban Outfitters. Pretty wanky. Already spotted a load of scenesters from comic shops and things at that forementioned festival. And they say "Are y'all set?" when you're ready to pay, and they ask you "How are you?" without wanting a reply in shops so they're usually gone when I say "Fine thanks" or look at you funny. I think it's an "A'right" sort of thing perhaps. Looking forward to coming home, there's a limit to how much fun you can actually have without having a proper place to call home that has your own stereo and your own computer and your own stuff in it. I always like coming home. Hope you've been missing me. See y'all soon. x

What can I say, I love Dundee more than I should.
![]() Sadly I have listened to Seymour Stein and Panic and some Looper just to hear Dundee. ![]() I miss my humdrum town... I like Boston a whole lot and as for living in America, it's probably one of the better places to live.. I'm glad to have been born in Britain though so you can see how silly America is. Example of Advert: Father is looking at kid's drawings on parents night at school, and there's this "tender" Werther's type cheesy music. He comes to his kids one (the theme of the drawings is what you want to be when you grow up) and his son's is "JUST LIKE MY DAD" and then his son comes over, hugs him and he goes "C'MON SON, LET'S GO TO FRIENDLY'S" and they go to this steakhouse and the waiter says "What would you like, son?" and "SAME AS MY POP" or something. And it's like. A STEAKHOUSE?!? Och. Me is having a good time, it's just been too many days without contact with sane people. They pronounce the Morrissey album as "You are the QUAIRY" as well. Idiots. America, you know where you can stick your hamburger.. haha.. I laughed at that lyric on the plane, RUBBISH. Mm. It's sidewalk splittingly hot outside, some.. high amount of.. degrees F.

Hehe. I'm flying on MY Sunday. Your Monday most likely. Hm. It's only teatime here. Time differences I still think are insanely magic things.
Then I'll be back in the Dee by Tuesday I think. Ahhh. My own bed. What anime? Me is running out of online time and it's dear. ![]()

i love how all daves posts from boston start off nice, then turn kinda sarcastic, and then he just adds an angry statement in at the end.
