ha ha, thanks alex, that's the one i remeber from being a kid, i loved the technique they used on the orcs but looking over those pages it looks a bit crap so i don't think i'll buy it.
memory often omits some pertinent points, like the film was actually naff and half finished

I was dissapointed with bakshi's take on it. I think its probably the animation itself that bugs me, the rotoscoping was just horrible.

Think he went a bit over the top on the strong pronunciation of the r's as well:

Gandalf: "Did you leave the RRRing Forrr Frrrodo?"

I did like some of the dialogue he kept in from the book though, escpecially Boromir when he trys to take the ring "A madness took me".

The thing is he never finished it because the first part bombed completely because it wasn't propmoted well or something like that.

you can get it really cheap on DVD from virgin etc if yo ufancy a laugh.

Yeah, the way Boromir reacts is quite nicely handled.....even if he is a Viking!!

well it was 20 years ago that i saw it (on betamax actually!) so maybe if i saw it now it might not be as cool as it was to a ten year old back then. like i remeber it being a lot darker and less cartoony as the shots show it, memory fogs the truth!
