Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy
I just finnished the trilogy in 5 parts today. Thought it was fantastic, anyone else read it? After reading it I can see where Terry Pratchett has "borrowed" certains things from
Any recommendations for another book on a similar vain to read? |

Read Douglas Adam's other series, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Quality.
Also, give Pratchett his due he borrows from lots of writers but makes the book much greater than the sum of its parts. |

To be fair, I never thought of Pratchett's style as lifting directly from Adams, but they definately do mine the same vein of dry british humour.
I have to say, of the five books, the first three are my personal favourites. And the Dirk Gently stuff, as previously mentioned. |

Those books are great
. One thing did get to me though - Marvin wasn't paranoid, or manically depressed. He wasn't even an android. So why was he called 'Marvin the Paranoid Android', and why was he always referred to as the 'manically depressed robot'? I shouldn't ask myself such things really ![]() |

Via /.
The BBC has not only announced that they are to make radio adaptations to The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy's final three books: Life, The Universe and Everything; So Long and Thanks For All the Fish; and Mostly Harmless. Also, Douglas Adams is to himself provide the voice of Agrajag, the character constantly being reincarnated and dying at the (inadvertent) hands of Arthur Dent, since Adams 'always intended to play the part of Agrajag and recorded himself in the part a few years ago.' Wonderful stuff! |
