Upcoming Tim Burton stuff--
We all love Tim Burton, right? What do you guys think of him making another version of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (don't call it a 'remake' of the old movie, though, or the kids at timburtoncollective.com will 'ave ya)? Johnny Depp as Wonka(!), Helena Bonham Carter as Charlie's mum(?), and... some other people whose names I can't remember at the moment and some unknowns for the kids. I think it'll be... Burtonish. Closer to the book, 'darker', whatever; good idea in your opinion, or bad? I think it'll be great; I can't wait to see what he does with it.
Also, The Corpse Bride, seems to have an interesting story, and it'll be all stop-motion animation Nightmare Before Christmas style, which is fantastic. Last edited by iamtehzen : 19th July 2004 at 10:05 PM. |

It should be bloody excellent. Are they making it disnow or is it done? I presume Danny Elfman will be lending his soundtracking prowess to the film which should officially make the film, DOSS

there was a thread about his a wee while ago - here!
I personally *love* the idea of Tim Burton making Charlie + the Chocolate Factory. I think it could go 2 ways style wise - either his usual dark way, or something along the lines of Big Fish. Either way I wouldn't care. Although, saying that, I think I'm hoping for a darker Burton film because it would contrast Willy Wonka + The Chocolate Factory and it would be so completeley different. I also think Johnny Depp will be wonderful as per usual. I wonder what they'll do with all the songs that are in the original? do you think they'll cut them out completely or do different versions? |

New teaser trailer.
Rehashing old topics (with new stuff though), sorry, but this is the most hilariously terrifying thing I think I have ever seen. Good, aye?

![]() The main reason I heard for the remake was that Roald Dahl was pretty dissapointed with the original film as he felt it was too sunny, he wanted it to be portrayed more like the book, more sinister and dark. Cue Time Burton ![]() |

Umm no. Roald Dahl died in 1990. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released in 1971 or was it 1970. But yeah, he was still alive when the film came out. |
