Mullholland Drive
Watched this movie in the early hours of this morning and all I can say is...what the fuck?!
Extremely gripping but also very confusing. David Lynch the director really pulled some confusing shit outta the bag here. Anyone also as confiused as me when they watched it? All I can gai nfrom it is that a bit of it was a dream like thing but I really am just guessing. |

I love this film!
The first shot of the movie is the girl going to sleep. From then up until she awakes on the sofa when the door knocks, a little after the lesbian sex scene, she is dreaming. After that, what you see is real mixed with flashbacks.I think. |

The tramp didn't necessarily mean anything. That bit was all in a dream so didn't have to make sense. If anything I think it was there to make you realize it was a dream.
Eraserhead is far easier to understand I thought, it can be explained very easily. It's still pretty fucked up though. Lost highway is the worst (as in hardest to figure out - I really love this film) in my opinion. I can explain bits of it, but there are parts that I just cannot make sense of. Dick Laurent is dead... |

Eh?, i always thought the tramp was an integral part to the story, basically that tramp in naomi's said dream world is her fucked up and evil emotions and someone just banged my front door *shake* |

Well yeah. :P I just never took any of the first half too meaningfully (is that a word?) Everything that happens in her dream is either an offshoot of her real life, or utter pish, as most dreams are. I just took that bit to be some weird-ass portion of the dream. |

"did you understand any of that?" Lynch is primarily concerned with creating artistic cinematography, rather than writing scripts that make sense. His definition of Lost Highway's plot is: "it's about an identity crisis in a place where time means nothing". Aye. In saying that, Lost Highway is fucking good - it's probably the best film in its field (?) due to the amount of interpretations that it can offer. You think you've just about cracked it, then you remember that it just doesn't quite fit at some point in the film. Lynch is, indeed, the man. |

On another note got a hold of Lynch's "Short Films of David Lynch" off the net, has anyone seen his first own-made films, err...Six Men Getting Sick, The Alphabet, The Grandmother and The Amputee?, i only got to watch Six Men... and The Alphabet, and must say they are unique to say the least ![]() |
