Theyve had a site up for about a year now for it and on the special features of the GITS dvd it mentioned that there would probably be another one

i couldnt be arsed starting a thread so i just searched it instead.
went to see this last sunday at the DCA as the original is one of my favourite films, dont know if anyone else did.
i have to say the animation in it is the best i have ever seen. no joke, its simply awesome and the film gets off to a great start, the first half speeds along but the second half is just baws.
too much quotations and philosophy, more than the original if thats even possible and just a terribly disappointing end to a story which never really kicked off.
so yeah, disappointing overall...............awesome animation though......

thats shirow all over though. the philosophy and technological know-how has always come before plots with GITS, especially in the mangas.

it was the same in the first film with the guns, he knows just too much about guns and quite frankly, i couldnt give a toss, so its either in there because he loves guns or because he wants show off how much he knows about guns.

ive been collecting the series, stand alone complex, and im abit dissapointed. the stories are just too dam short, running at 21 minutes an episode, perhaps if shown on TV with adverts it would drag out, but just watching it from DVD is a bit baffling. theres just not enough plot development!

"theres a problem with the minister and a dignitry"
"ok i i'll go sort it out"
"your under arrest"
end.???

yeah i went and got the first dvd of the series when it came out, it is really good but the episodes are just way to quick to finish and have all the loose ends tie up.

i was probably being too critical of the film but it just gets really boring when every character is just trading quotations with each other in a "yeah, what you think of that one" manner. i think its like you say, masumune is probably doing it just to show how intelligent he is. kind of reminded me of the dialougue you would hear the matrix2.

I never knew it was being shown in the DCA

Also, i have the first 2 DVD's of the series and agree, the episodes are too short, and there are only 4 on each disc, they want a cheap (£25 tops) boxed set!

Go! Miasma! is on a distinguished road
I was at the DCA last Sunday as well, I'm in agreement about the visuals, bloody stunning, CG marries up with the traditional animation really well. The dog was sweet as hell too.

I though the end was reasonably satisfying. Fair enough, the philosophical stuff gets a bit repetitive, but it's easier to understand and relate to than the endless technobabble of the first film.
