mother of pearl! ive been out of the loop on this lot!?

a live action akira? sounds a bit risky, how can you live up to that incredibly complex story and rediculously detailed backdrops that MADE akira so great.

also how good are the specials going to be to emulate tetsuo's arm being cut off by a satalite just after he raises akira's frozen coffen from underneath the stadium?

quite simply .... you cant. if this film isnt perfect, i'll damn it to hell.

then theres a ghost in shell 2? blimey these are my all time favourite artists works. thats going to be nothing but awesome.

lol, tell me about it, i only found out about ghost in the shell 2 about 2-3 weeks back when i saw an ad for it on the net!

Dunno if it could live up to the original tho.

And i totally agree about akira, how are they gonna have all the parts like huge bridges collapsing and hundreds off people falling and getting killed in a variety of ways, and the bit at the end when tetsuo turns into the big blob like thing when he is reaching the peak of evolution . . . and then theres the whole anti-big bang like thing at the end aswell . . .

Any date? I know they occasionally show the odd manga film as a one off every now n again at some cinemas (so yeah, quite rare) , but it would be amazing to see in a cinema!

a live action akira could never have such detailed specials. but theres plenty of story to chew on. the comics were far more in depth and had almost a different story line than the film.
i reckon you could easily get a good two hour story without all the blobs and explosions.

wouldnt be the same though. that link does suggest its a roumor more than a fact?
