William Golding
Has anyone ever read a book by William Golding? They are so shit!!! I have done Lord of the Flies and the Inheritors both for textual analysis in English and I hate them both so so much!!! Does anyone actually like these books?

i loved lord of the flies! brilliant story! book are always worse when you study them though. i read it off my own back for enjoyment and i thought it was great. a little farfetched perhaps, but nevertheless i thought it was a fantastic adventure story!

Meh. Like everyone else alive I read Lord Of The Flies and while I wasnt bowled over, it wasnt a massive chore to read.
I liked the book actually FOR the stuff you could study from it, its interesting as an example of a social experiment and some of the imagery and symbology's pretty nifty. The scene with the sow is cool, I always used to quote with the blood running over their hands in english essays just because putting sexual connotations in english essays is fun. . . Didnt impress the SQA though obviously since I had to appeal for my grade. |

Lord Of The Flies is one of my favourite books of all time. Literature that is at once very simple yet at the same time so dense and complex is right up my cul-de-sac. I have read another one of his books called freefall (i think) and it was also very good.

I was recently assigned Lord of The Flies for the same purpose. Half my class invested in the audio version it was that bad. My english teacher appears to be the only person that can get anything out of it.the concepts are interesting but the book is poorly written!

i was very glad when piggy died because he's such an annoying character. the original film was really shit, all the kids were terrible actors and the screen is green, and piggy wasnt fat enough!!!
