hahah, i've had city of god, y tu mama tambien, kung fu hustle and about 40gig of japanese and south american films on me hd for months, i'm too lazy and usually watch penn & teller's bullshit when i have free time.
though these are some favs so far.. Casshern - for being simply mind blowing post-apocalyptica for 2 hours, if akira is the benchmark eastern anime, this is the benchmark eastern cinema. Blue Spring - for painting a picture of real-life at one of the worst high schools in tokyo and why films like battle royale might some day happen. Sharkskin man and peach hip girl - for being a funny look at the 'bonnie & clyde' dynamic of girl and guy on the run from the law, but also with the mafia, a killer who hates violence and a perverted uncle. star wreck: in the pirkinning - for being the best spoof sci-fi film ever created and also being the most popular finnish export of 2005. recommended for anyone who likes star trek or babylon 5, preferably both. |

Battleship Potemkin (fantastic russian silent movie); The Cabinet Of Dr Calligari (a brilliant german expressionistic silent movie, that has a remake out next year if you're not a fan of silent movies); Bad Education (almodovar, but actually all of his films except from Live Flesh, which is pretty poor for almodovar); All About Lily Chou-Chou; anything by Lars Von Trier (although some of his films cant be classed as foreign such as Dogville or Dancer in The Dark, he is a foreign director); Barefoot Gen (anime about hiroshima);
most of the ones already said as well ![]() |
