Next Bond film to be Casino Royale

Quote:
The 21st James Bond movie will be a remake of Casino Royale.

The movie, set for release in 2006, will be directed by Martin Campbell, who first took the helm on Goldeneye in 1995.

Casino Royale was author Ian Fleming's first Bond book and was originally made into a spoof spy flick in 1967, starring Peter Sellers, Woody Allen and David Niven.
Rumours are already circulating over who will take the lead, although producers are adamant no one has yet been selected.

Pierce Brosnan, who played the last four Bonds, has already announced he will not be doing so again.
Names tipped to be the next secret agent include Eric Bana, Jude Law, Heath Ledger and Clive Owen.
Casino Royale introduces Bond as an expert baccarat player assigned to beat Le Chiffre, a communist agent for a Soviet assassination bureau.
Bond is also forced to contend with his latest love, Vesper Lynd, who does not take long to appear on the scene.
MGM acquired the title and rights in a settlement with Columbia's Sony Pictures parent.
Casino Royale will be released by Sony but will carry the MGM name.
This is gonna be phish me thinks as im not a big fan of remakes. Instead they should concentrate on making another proper Bond film, not a fucking remake!

It's not really a remake, the first Casino Royale was a spoof, this will be an adaptation of the book. Also I'd rather they did an Ian Fleming book than some of the diamonds in his face baddie/Halle berry shite they've done recently.

It should be quite good, as it won't rely so much on the big budget secial effects that blighted the last couple of films. It'll be much more about the character of James bond. Realistically, it means they're starting again with the franchise to keep it fresh, and last for another 21 films. quite looking forward to the film that comes out after it.

i think it'll be an ok movie if its true, i mean i dont think there is one bond movie that i never liked. Goldeneye is still my favourite followed closely by Moonraker.

Also i dont think its a true remake like was said but an adaptation of the actual book, so thats a good sign.

it's the same director as Golden Eye, Martin Campbell whose worked with Clive Owen before, if it's not Clive Owen i'll eat my hat Hugh Jackmans been mentioned as has Dugary Scott, which'd be pretty cool, but i'm certain it's gonna be Clive Owen

Aww man, Clive Owen has the acting ability of a brick.

Dugary Scott looks like a good bet to me

I'd like Dougray Scott to be the new Bond, Goldeneye is my favourite Bond film, and I'm happy they're making Casino Royale.

Wow, what a succinct post!
