I'm loving that backing music

I was a bit cynical of the film before because I didn't think Johnny Depp would pull of the character of Willy Wonka, but he looks like he'll be pretty decent.

Its kinda wierd to see him so cheery.

Im certain it will be good and all.............but the question is, why? Was there any NEED to redo Charlie and The Chocolate Factory?

Yeh. I agree this looks good, but Gene Wilder played a GREAT Willy Wonka.
And as much as Depp is a great actor, I feel like I am just gonna be comparing them.
But I think the movie will be great the style Tim Burton does things.

Didn't Roald Dahl not like the way Gene Wilder portrayed Wonka? Or something like that. I know that he didn't like something about the movie anyway, just can't remember exactly what it was...

There is justification in a remake purely for the reason that the author (as far as i know) didn't like the original and it would be nice to see a version closer to his vision.

Roald Dahl (the author of the book) thought the film was too happy and lighthearted and the book was intended to be more sinister. Hence Tim Burtons remake.
