im reading the book at the moment, and watched the old movie not long ago, has anyone else seen it? its a mental movie! people thought it was real when it was first out hehe

theyre doing a remake in holywood, looks pretty good : ) out in cinemas end of the year i think

Never read the book or seen the movie, though my folks had this on audio cassette when I was a little kid and I absolutely loved it! I may have to try and see the movie and get hold of the book at some point, though after my exams!

and yeah you should go watch the old version of the film before the new one comes out, i suspect the old one will be better

I have a friend who's a huge fan of the book and original movie.

He's a bit pissed off about the new hollywood movie because they're setting it in America and having Tom Cruise as the lead role or something.

i know, i hate it when they make remakes, some pull it off, most dont though

hope its not a total let down

the soundtrack was fucking amazing : )

it was ctually the original radio version from 1938 that Orson Welles (see here for full story) did that had people thinking there was a real martian invasion taking place and had people running to the hills for shelter. If you ever get a chance to hear the original broadcast you should do so.

For its time its pretty damned good.

The film from the fifties is more about the cold war and americas fear of being overun by communism and those damned ruskies!!! Good film though.

I'm quite sad in that i liked the tv series from the eighties. Used to be on at about 1am.

I hate Tom Cruise as an actor, but I'll probably still go watch the film.

I have never read it, but i love the storys about when it first came out on "wireless" and people were so scared that they ran out their houses and tried to hide from aliens!

Hope the new movie is good, cause its mean to be such an epic story, but then the preview for the film looks a bit hollywood, and i hate that american voice they use over the background going "people thought they were safe, blah blah" really freaks me out...:s

He's quoting the original script, I thought it was cool but the voice is pretty cheesey.
