Downfall
I have just been to see this film and I would strongly recommend it to others considering going to see it. The synopsis from the dca's website is:
Quote:
So again, I would strongly recommend this film, especially if you are interested in this topic and would like to see a film from the german perspective for a change. A word of warning though, it is a subtitled film, though you quickly forget that it is subtitled once it gets going. |

I'm gonna agree with Vicki on this one, its an excellent movie and pretty involving. It doesnt go over board with the camera trickery and when it is used its used purposefully. Also the acting is splendid and there are so many lead characters that you are given several viewpoints on the situation.
In some ways you're made to feel sorry for Adolf Hitler and then you're made to loath him by hearing the language that comes out of his mouth and his actions on the screen. Historically acurate and factual its a good movie if you want to learn a few things along the way, definate reccommendation. I'm slightly surprised at the lack of publicity its recieved so far, i've only seen a handful of trailers for it so far.

i really liked this movie. like kj, i thought the acting was top class. the only bad point would be that there didn't seem to be a point in the little boy that took out the tanks. as far as i could tell he was in the film to show the audience the full extent of the german's desperation, but thats a really trivial bad point.
the film shows how naive the german people were, from the little boy i metioned above to the old generals that seriously thought they wrer doing the right thing. |

Just watched this on More4. Absolutely stunning film. one of the best tragedies I have ever seen. Excellent acting from Bruno Ganz as Hitler of course, but also from the rest of the very large cast.
Haven't seen many films as compelling as this. |

come on Baz, hurry up and watch this. I bought it on DVD, one of the very few foreign language films i own but one that i felt was a must own. Its just a very atmospheric film that really engages you and actually makes you feel various emotions that most other films wouldn't evoke.

I might just have to treat myself to it some time soon though. As my first post says, it was a very very good film. |

This movie is amazing...a film, shot by germans, directed and produced by germans, staring germans, about Hitler is a very bold move. But it rocks!

I meant to ask you, you damned merkinite, can men wear pubic thatches? or would that just look too much like an infant elephant in a tiny toupee?
