AMYTIVILLE HORROR reviewed
someone asked me to review this film for a site they work on so i thought i might stick it on here too
AMYTIVILLE HORROR reviewed by Trash_Chris The Amityville Horror, a remake of the 1979 Stuart Rosenberg film based on the book The Amityville Horror written by Jay Anson, was released this month. A brief synopsis: A family Decided to move into a house which was the scene of a mass murder of a family, carried out by their own son. Knowing this the young couple move their family in suspecting nothing and 28 days are forced to flee the house. The film is set to be an instant success, with the story reaching worldwide cult status over the years, getting the public into the cinemas will not be a problem. With the film attracting fans from the original film, as well as a new generation of cinema goers you might very well find yourself waiting in a long queue to get your ticket. The remake is set to divide the audience’s opinions on this classic story. While the remake has been given a makeover, enhancing special effects, recapturing that “boo factor” and gracing the film with some quality acting it comes at a hefty price, which fans of the story and original will see as too great. The remake has changed many things from events on the timeline, character’s names, the address of the house and the house itself, which some believe has taken the shine off this film. On the other hand the remake is a well written film, with some very impressive visual and special effects, allowing them to create tension and fear for the viewing audience. The cast of the film includes Ryan Reynolds as George Lutz and Jesse James as Billy Lutz, who along with the other cast members perform their roles to the highest of standards, in my mind the direction, action and acting of this film can not really be faulted. Overall the film is very enjoyable and I highly recommend a viewing. Wither or not you agree the film is accurate enough, either with the book or the original is not the point (lets face it the original was not totally accurate either, that’s how films sell). As a horror film it’s scary, thrilling and full of twists and exciting events to keep you watching. I would highly recommend it. I would suggest for full effect you go to a late night screening, then enjoy trying to get to sleep. Rating: 4/5 |

good review, and it sounds good, but i have to ask why they remade it in the first place?
theres tons of sequels to amytiville, i think another with a big budget and a good cast could of had the same success as a remake. the original was bloody scary and holds up well even today. i suppose to me its like remaking a film that was made last year, just seems silly. no doubt i'll add this to my collection anyway |

i saw this film today, it put the shits right up me! horror films are a love of mines and this one was pretty good i thought, for a remake at least. at first i was really sceptical of ryan reynolds acting abilities but he really is good in this film
