Also, thankfully the Watchmen adaptation is dead in the water. |

I mean that lots of Hollywood producers/whoever have already taken successful comic books and turned them into shit movies to make money. What I call a 'shit movie' is pretty much what the majority of the US public find a good movie. For instance... Spiderman - yeah it had some cool special effects but there was nothing remotely original about it, therefore it's purpose becomes capital and not art. Killing the essence of the comic by watering it down to maximise profits. |

I find most superhero movies a bit dissappointing cos i know they could be so much more. I read somewhere, i can't remember where, that DC and Marvel superheroes are the Greek Mythologies of 20th century America, and that is so true. BUt even with films that have nothing to do with comics, I can see so much of the medium's influence. If you get what I mean. Anyway, i didn't know that the Watchmen film was on hold yet again. Always thought that would make a crap film, but a great HBO mini series. |

I read a review that said Rodriguez should get an oscar for each and every scene for purely encapsulating the comic book feel, but that the film was devoid of plot or a decent story.
WTF??? This film has 3 awesome stories in it that don't touch in anyway (except everyone drinking in the same bar) and even has the Josh 'the hitman' Hartnett Intro and Outro's. The whole fact that the film starts with the end of a 4th hitman comicstrip, and ends with the start of another episode from the same strip just blew me out of the water, this film is soooo like you've picked up a comic and started to read it from halfway, you get thru 3 stories and start reading a fourth before you have to get up and do something and put the comic down. Absolutely amazing on that note alone. Nick Stahl playing a paedophile just after making himself an A-list star with Terminator 3 was a bold move, but it worked. |
