Has anyone else seen this? What did you think?

I went to see it today, I can't decide if I liked it or not. I think if I hadn't read the book I would have liked it more though.

Ooooooh can't wait to go and see this. I remember listening to the tapes all the time when I was a little girl and loving them, so I hope that film does it some justice!!

Hopefully be going to see this at some point this week.

I went to see it the other night. I'm the same as you, i'm not quite sure what i thought of it. It didn't have much of a story to it but the special effects were really good, and the son Robbie was really hot!!

Ive heard this is total shite. Basically lots of 'serious face' shots of Tom Cruise and also possessing an air of 'Hey! America is great, yeah!'. I will not be venturing to the cinema for this.

Yeah, I wasn't the biggest fan of it. Some bits were alright I guess but overall it was pretty rubbish and yeah the ending is rubbish too.

this film is shite. to me its more a showcase of the neatest special effects. the story was amazingly weak

Most big action films since Independence Day have been either about showcasing all the latest effects as Ryan said or are just shoving the USA in our puss and how they overcome everything. Hollywood is full of pricks just now and the Depps and Nortons of the world are few and far between.

Go with japan and asia if you want excellence, Born to Fight, Infernal Affairs 2 and Kung Fu Hustle are probably the best 3 films i've seen recently and all blew me away.

fair enough the effects and shit are meant to be "spectacular" but the original is by far superior, i got the jeff waynes war of the worlds soundtrakc on just now, it fucking rocks : D

He's apparently making another War of the Worlds movie within the next couple of years and it's actually going to be like the book + be based in victorian england. Or so I heard anyway.
