Films you love but no-one else has seen
Everyone has those personal favourite films that seem to have bypassed widespread attention. Sometimes it seems that no one else but you has seen them. Maybe you saw it on Channel 4 at 2am, or watched at in the DCA in a deserted cinema. Share them here! Let's broaden our horizons, people... I'll start with two of my all time favourites.
Dead Man by Jim Jarmusch. A beautiful and surreal neo-western, shot in stark black and white. This features a wonderfully lost and perfect Johnny Depp and a wealth of stars in other parts, most notably Iggy Pop in a dress and the legendary Robert Mitchum in his last big screen role. It also features a perfectly judged electric huitar score by Neil Young. This is a very slow moving film... perhaps a bit too "arty" for some, but others will absolutely love it. It may in fact be my all time favourite. Amazing. Second up is Last Night, directed by and starring Don McKellar, it also features... well... just about every actor in Canada, including David Cronenberg and the absolutely divine Sandra Oh. The premise is the last six hours before the end of the Earth through the eyes of various ordinary people in Toronto. No spaceships, no alien invasions and no Bruce Willis or Will Smith to save the day. Just normal people preparing for the end of the world in their own way. It is an utterly human film: thought-provoking, funny and heartbreaking. It hurts and I'm getting shivers just thinking about it. Anyone seen either of these films? Or any other undiscovered gems to recommend? Fire away! |

Madhouse. It's a thriller/horror bout a guy who go's to work in amental hospital and starts seeing ghosts. I can't go on to much about it or i'll give it away. If you wanna know what happens pm me bout it.
I highly recommend it likes, it's a really good watch and the ending is great too! |

I remember being a lot younger and watching Mallrats on BBC2 at some stupid hour in the morning and thinking I had stumbled across some kind of secret film that was too cool for everyone. how wrong I was.
