Unleashed
The plot to this movie is so silly that it should be so bad, but infact is really fucking good.
Jet Li (Danny) plays a killer who works for gangster Bob Hoskins (Bart) and his gang. Danny has been trained like an attack dog since childhood and kills at his masters command the second he is released from his collar. Danny has a sensitive side though and starts to discover this when he meets blind piano tuner Sam (Morgan Freeman). After a vicious gang attack which badly injures Danny, Sam and his daughter take him in and teach him about life, love and all that gooey stuff. Bart and his gang, not to pleased about this, take Danny back to his life of murder only to find he has been turned off violence by his new family. When Danny trys to get back to Sam and his daughter a naturaly violent conclusion begins. Luc Besson wrote this and it continues his "child-like killer who learns to live and love" theme that he did so well with Leon and Nikita prior to this. This movie is just as good as those two. The only scene i didn't like was a 4 on 1 fight scene in a pit, which was straight from a computer game (though this scene does include a wince inducing sledge hammer and shoulder blades bit). Overall i think this film was really impressive, if a little camp in places. Fans of fast paced and stylish violence will lap up the fight scenes, but the sensitive story is entertaining without being overly sentimental. go see it Last edited by My First Kev : 2nd September 2005 at 11:53 PM. |
