The montage in Goodfellas with Layla playing in the background n' all the mafia dudes are found dead or killed off...
That or Rocky 4 when he is training in Siberia to fight Ivan Drago, the Russian boxer with the coolest name, best quote ("i have destroyed him") and ugliest/scariest mug ever!!! (so ugly, his face appears in Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic, as a playable character...) |

You cant beat possibly the best (and one of the first) ever montages made in Battleship Potemkin when the soldiers are marching down a flight of stairs and the civilians are running away in panic. The flight of stairs in reality are not as long as they are perceived to be in the film, and so the dramatic effect created by the film intensifies as the action goes on, making it a very early montage sequence. The best shot as well, is when a mothers child is shot, and the civilians trample all over him, trying to escape, and his mother picks him up and walks (for what seems forever) up to the soldiers. What happens next is probably one of the finest moments in cinema, and i urge everyone reading this to go to www.archive.org and download Battleship Potemkin, or go and buy it in the shops, great if you're wanting to prove the worth of silent movies in today's society (which i try to do a lot
). |
