I saw Broken Flowers at the DCA last night. I really liked it... very ambiguous and pretty and slow moving and hypnotic, as you'd expect from a Jarmusch film.
One problem thought.. it's being described as a comedy drama, yet it's not really either of those things. It wasn't really laugh out loud funny, aside from a few moment of Jarmusch absurdism. Yet this didn't seem to click with certain parts of the audience, who seemed to laugh purely for the reason that they were watching a Bill Murray "comedy drama" so thought they were expected to laugh at certain points! *Bill Murray mutters something to a small child* ha! *Bill Murray gets in a car* hilarious! *Bill Murray says nothing for three minutes* too much! on the other hand maybe it's just me being a miserable git... |
