For the record, "Hear No Evil, See No Evil" and "Brewster's Millions" are distant but funny memories, but the standout Richard Pryor role for me is the straight, largely non-comedic turn he did in Paul Schrader's Blue Collar. Top notch film.

i forgot about brewster's millions, my best memories are hear no evil and stir crazy, gotta get all 3 and have a pryor night. then watch me, myself and irene to see what effect he has on today's youth

I thought he was dead already. I asked someone years ago and they said he was dead, so I assumed it was true.

Sucks, because he was really funny.

i agree with what your saying, but there was stand up in the late 50's. perhaps not in same format as todays stand ups, but there was plenty. bob hope to name one.

the man was a true breakthrough on americas uneasy attitudes towards racism. i know he had MS, but 65 is nothing these days.

It is indeed a shame, missed greatly by many. I loved Hear No Evil, See No Evil and Brewster's Millions.

I could have sworn he died years ago. So I'm not too upset, because I've already mourned.
