that's a poorly written statement dude... richard was a legend, even those who weren't in the know have surely seen "Hear no evil, see no evil."

Richard Pryor is classed as the biggest pioneer in black comedy but i personally disagree, I think he was a pioneer in comedy as a whole. since black comedy may have taken off in the 70's but there was no such thing as stand up until the late 50's, so it's one of those few things where whites and blacks broke through together and fed off eachother. Richard Pryor is in my opinion one of the grandfathers of today's comedy.

I have one of his DVD's where he's attacking america's immigrant policy for letting too many "honkies" in to the states. the man was and always will be a senator for black independance in the US.

I just wish him and Gene Wilder did more movies, as they really fed off each other.

Yeah, a bit. I thought there should be a post about it cos it's a signifigant event, but I don't see the point in me harping on about a subject that I have very little knowledge about.

For the record, "Hear No Evil, See No Evil" and "Brewster's Millions" are distant but funny memories, but the standout Richard Pryor role for me is the straight, largely non-comedic turn he did in Paul Schrader's Blue Collar. Top notch film.

lots of celebrity deaths this year but undoubtedly this is one of the worst.

a comedy genius who largely set up the way stand up is done today. brilliant character.
