I watched this last night and I found it pretty difficult to watch. It was a good movie, but part of me really didn't enjoy watching it. I was in tears a few times during it.
It was told really well and from what I have read was based on Shane Meadows own experiences. Part of me was left feeling though that extreme nationalist bigots would be watching this and sort of getting some excitement out of the scenes of complete racist abuse and violence. My bf didn't quite understand why I was crying. He thought it was due to the violence. Yeah it is quite violent but I've watched worse violence and not been upset. It was the context of it, it was the fact people like this still exist which made is so hard for me to watch as 'just a movie'. |

I saw this in Birmingham a few months ago. Brilliantly made, fantastic acting, and the final moment is just devastating.

Saw it not long after it came out. The music, clothes, settings and characters were incredibly authentic and worked well to re-create the time. also enjoyed Shane Meadows other efforts, especially Dead Mans Shoes. Pure gold it is.

Finally got around to watching this last night and thought it was excellent.
Like others have said, the climax of the film is shocking, but i'd been expecting it to happen for a while. In lesser hands i think such a film could have been two dimensional and overly graphic, but i think Meadows has balanced it quite well (maybe easier because his own experiences are in there) and the only scene of actual violence is all the more shocking because it's not just a bunch of boot boys running around kicking the shit out of everything and acting hard with no fall-out afterwards. I thought it was beautifully shot as well, it certainly looked convincing. |

Bugger, wrote a reply and it didn't post!
The soundtrack isn't all Einaudi, most of it is ska with bits of punk from the time plus some Gravenhurst and Clayhill. The handfull of Einaudi pieces used were rather good though, so if the rest of his stuff is similar then i'd be pretty into it. |

If you don't own any Einaudi i'd recommend Echoes which is a 'best of' of sorts, i guess. However his latest - Divenire, is my personal favourite and much more experimental than any previous works. He uses lots of clever samples and loops and things. Totally incredible performer.
