'The Killing Joke' is the one to get for this film. It explains possible origins and motives for The Joker but also conceeds that his mind is so warped even he has no idea if he is making it all up.

To be honest, there's nothing in that review that a fan couldn't gleam from the trailers already in circulation, and what happens in the comics. But what a lucky bastard if they have seen it!

I've just watched Gotham Knight and it pushes all the right buttons. While the first story smacks a bit of marketing people hitting their youth demographic from the start (young skaters using street lanaguage to describe their version of an encounter with Batman), you let it slide as soon as the various artist's interpretations appear on the screen.

It's the Animatrix all over again but that was arguably more entertaining than the Matrix Revolutions and just as with Animatrix, this doesn't disappoint. Batman's dialogue is a bit naff in places and only improves on the final story 'Deadshot' which was my favourite of the lot. In saying that, there are some very smart stories here.

The animation is impressive, score is huge (shame I heard it through laptop speakers) and I imagine I'll watch it a few more times before the real event begins this month.
