Apple - Trailers - The Golden Compass - Large

The first film based on Philip Pullman's Dark Materials.

It looks ok...I'll be going to see this for sure, but I cant help but think I'll be disappointed

I heard they've removed all the religious context from the story line...which kinda IS the story line. The trailer looks amazing but I can't help but be skeptical.

I heard that too. Will make the story line totally pointless.

It looks pretty good, but I think it will be ruined totally by film 3.

Is it not all 3 books in one film. Thought t said 'based on the Dark Materials books'
If you think about it the whole Mary Malone story like and the Mulefa could be cut out.
I am worried what they've done to the story line. The books have blown me away each time I've read them.

There's no character cast for Will. He's a pretty major character.

Well it was never going to be as anti-religion as the books but I think it'll still be a part of the story, even the trailer for this film mentions words such as 'heresy' etc.
The most interesting thing will be whether they include the gay angel storyline.
We'll have to wait until film three proper to fiind out how much religious stuff they've cut. The foundations will be there i.e. the church opposing the dust, that's basically the storyline so they can't cut it!

I think the trailer looks amazing. I can't wait for the film.

I hope most of the Mary Malone shite is cut out of film three, those chapters are so boring I reckon!

But he doesn't appear until The Subtle Knife so they don't need really need to have him cast just now, do they? I can't access the the Subtle Knife's imdb page though because it's only available to pro users or something.

That's my point. It can't be condensed into one movie without the co-main character.

Its gonna be a total Lord of the Rings affair - one movie a year I would imagine, right around Christmas time...and just in time for me to go see on my birthday fingers crossed!

i love the books but saw the trailer last night, cant say it excited me. ill go cause i love the books but i hate nicole kidman and daniel craig so it doesnt bode well for me im affraid.

I think Kidman's gonna be perfect..can't remember the name of the dude who's playing Lee Scoresby but again I think it's really good casting...unlike Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel?!?!?
