The Iron Giant and other £3 DVDs from Tesco

Now an essential part of any shopping trip to Riverside is me n garry boosting the flats dvd collection with £3 clearence movies.

The Iron Giant was the latest purchase. I'd never seen this before but heard great things about it and the praise is well deserved. One of the best mainstream animated movies i have ever seen. It reminded me of reading the book when i was a boy. It wasn't overly Americanised or sentimental (well, for a kids film) and the animation was quite something. Bargain!

I think im going to pick up Rain Man, Jaws and Gremlins next time im down.

p.s. one thing i wouldn't recomend is picking up the slim cased 99p movies. They usualy star David Hasselhoff, Tom Selleck, Kirsty Alley or Gene Simmons. While this might seem like a kitch and fun idea at the time you'll eventualy just wish you'd bought a smoothie instead (about 10 minutes into the film usualy).

The Iron Giant is a lovely film, quite charming and understated. It also *looks* lovely from what i remember.

Poundland is full of £1 DVDs that nobody in their right mind would want.

Downfall is brilliant, Anchorman man is even better. The Gangs of New York fight scene in the car park was so funny.
