I Am Legend
Having spent the last hour and a half watching 'I Am Legend' I have to disagree with the mediocre reviews I've read online.
The film looks great, the central conceit is genuinely affecting, and the whole thing feels convincing. Only down point is that it's too short and we don't get to see enough of the main character pottering around the deserted New York. Anyone else seen it yet? |

I'm hoping to catch it soon, maybe in the cinema before I download it for a change!
I'm a big fan of the book and I really hope I'm not let down. I mean, I know there will be plenty differences but I'd like to see references back to the book, rather than the film just using the plot of the novel as a rough guideline. |

I believe it's based a great deal on 'The Omega Man' which changed a lot of the book.
I didn't even see the trailer before I downloaded it so I had no idea what to expect. |

I also heard rumours that plot-lines of either 28 Weeks Later and I Am Legend had to b changed after they clashed on a few things. Could be bollocks though. I'm looking forward to seeing it. It sounds like one of those movies best watched on the large screen.

Not me though, I think the film looks spiffing and will hopefully catch it soon! |

As I've said, my only criticism is that it's too short. The first third is fantastic, Will Smith going about his day to day life, alone but for his dog, in the abandoned New York. There are some really nice touches with his attempts to act as if everything is fine.
Some of the aerial shots of the city are astonishing, giving a real feel of catastrophe coming on it suddenly. Definitely to be recommended. |

Visually stunning film, I think I enjoyed the book too much to enjoy this film.
Too much of a blockbuster, pretty much took a really good concept and turned it into a zombie film. I know it was only based on the book, but it didn't even convey some of the most prevelant meanings behind the story. I enjoyed it as a film, but not as a book to movie adaptation. |

Yeah, I'm very forgiving regarding movies, but the original AvP was a massive pile of shit, and it's quite an achievement to make an Alien vs Predator movie shit.
My friends tell me the sequel sounds more promising though. |

I agree. The first one wasn't as good as the hype made it out to be, in fact it was terrible, but it was a fun movie to watch. They need to make the new one more violent though. It was like what they did with the last Terminator movie.
