HoRRoR!!
Not really just focusing on Horror films but has anyone ever watched a film and really shit themselves? Had their hearts pounding and actually jumped out their seat?
Really odd cause I watch a lot of horror films and stuff but the first film that made me jump was Jaws! Yeah it's really crap effects and really old but there was one bit where it was showing you under the water in a boat and I was expecting to see the shark when the next minute a dead man popped out...was first time (and last...for now) that I have actually jumped! ![]() |

Me too. I think the reason its so scary is that it doesn't rely on cheap shocks, like a killer jumping out from around the corner, it just builds up this really threating atmosphere until your skin's totally crawling

when i was a wee kid, the 'ghoulies go to college' movie gave me nightmares for a full month. But the only films really to have a scare effect on my were the Poltergiest movies. In terms of modern day movies? well, Long Time Dead was pretty good, and so was that other film something Days Later. the one set in London that was in the cinemas a year ago.
Havent seen the Ring but heard lots about it, both original and remake.

I watched the Ring when it was still light so I think a lot of it's effect was lost on me, was still a fantastic film tho'.
When I was young the scene in Ghostbusters when the ghost in the library screams really scared me, and I still eek when I watch it now. ![]() |

IT really did scare the hell out of me for months when i first saw it. I must've been 6 or 7 years old and they were showing it on sky one on the sunday night. The scariest bit for me was seeing his face go all sinister behind the washing at the start. I still find it fairly creepy. But i'm 3quaters of the way through the book now, and the book kicks the film's ass!!!
Plus i get paranoid watching arachnapobia. I'm terrorfied of spiders. yes i'm a pussy! |

People were scared watching The Ring? Are you joking? There was nothing scary about it. Even the bit with her coming out of the tv which i was expecting to shit myself was done pretty bad. I would actually add to my list of shitty movies.
If you want a good scary film get Demons 1 and 2 they really made me shit myself when i was a kid. There is a scene with a demon that comes out of the television when a girl is watching a horror film (the ring stole this idea) its really freaky. Cane from Poltergiest 2 is quite scary aswell i thought. |

You talking about the orginal Ring or the US version?
Its cool as fuck in the orginal version when she comes out the TV but completely shit in the Americain film. Films don't scare me anymore but vampires used to scare the shit out of me for months after watching films but I couldn't stop watching them when I was about 10. |

I agree that the original Ring was scary, Amercians as usual always fucking kill films, they hate other coutries having something good, they have to steal it for themselves.
American horror films nowadays really bore me - they all have the same format. Scream and all that utter shyte. Wish they'd realise that glamourising a horror doesnt work. |
