Aunt Gary, I think what you're saying is that a lot of special effects nowadays have been done to death, it's getting harder and harder to impress people. When Star Wars came out people hadn't seen them sort of effects before which made the film reallt stand out

but thats why its over rated - effects dont make a film, it was terribly done in my opinion. Fair enough, it was a novelty but I cant believe it is voted best film of all time in polls etc! Lets face it - its for kids. Theres no story line, no intelligence or insight and the acting is terrible!

i watched the star wars trilogy for the first time this week.
the 2nd two were ok but the first one didnt impress me much, i cant believe people went back for more at the time. the scripts and acting are shite for the most part of all of them, its the detail and depth that make it good i think. i voted indiana jones |

So are people gonna look back on the films 30 years from now and say they are all shite, the matrix--shite, lord of the rings--fucking shite bla la la, bullet time was just coming in then and noone had seen it before, the fight scenes were also impressive at the time hmmmm yes bla la la. Alot of the time when people say star wars is crap it's cos it's so popular and they don't wanna appear mainstream. The fact these views are on an "alternative" music board may say alot here, I have put quotes round alterntive as alot of it is now trendy. If you wanna talk about shite acting sean connery and keanu reeves are 2 prime candidates, they are the same in every film. Reeves looks good in films, he just ruins it as soon as he opens his mouth. And as for connery, well if you can't see that then you aren't looking !
Film makers of today still look back to great old films to see how it was done, great films don't become obsolete. Just the same way great tunes never do either. |

I also think Keaneu reeves is a block of wood when it comes to acting and I cant take connery seriously.
there are many amazing actors about now though - Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Sigourney Weaver, Jodie Foster, list goes on and on Star wars IS shite in terms of real artisitic talent. It will always be remembered as an entertainment thing, for kids. Most people who love star wars are ion their 20s, because it reminds them fondly of their childhoood. Do you know anyone over 35 who adores star wars? no. How can it be compared to masterpieces such as Clockwork Orange, 2001 space oddysey, and A.I ? These films were ahead of their time and genius. star wars is full of people in furry suits , its not to be taken seriously. |
