I've been giving this Spielberg 'classic' some serious thought lately and while i am sure it is a marvel of modern film-making and cinematography i am not all that convinced that these kids were a little out their depth!!!
I know that their homes may have been at risk but surely there must have been some kind of re-housing package or even compensation due from the evil developer? Also was it wise to embark on a foolhardy expidition through an ill-maintained sewer system accompanied by an ashmatic, a large deformed gentleman with special needs and a bumbling fat incompetant? A proper risk assessment of this caper should have been carried out and formal written permission should have been obtained from the parents / guardians of those involved! My advice is that they should have informed the appropriate authorities of any illegal activity, ill-treatment of mutated but lovable giants or hidden treasure. In these incidents it is always wise to remember safety first!!! |
