well i suppose if you rnot really into classic horror movies you wouldnt like it.
I went to see this film twice, was fucking amazing. I love Freddies humour and Jason is just a hard bastard so this film was great from start to finish. |

Freddy has alway had one liners right from the first movie. Everyone considers the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th movies to be classics right? so what exactly did this movie not have that the others did? It had everything and more, I think it was intended to be a bit of fun and thats pretty much what it was for me.
I'd rather go see this than the new wave of shitty teen horror movies that keep coming out. One of the only horrors i have seen in years that was any good. |

In defence of both fields I don't think any modern horror is a classic, considering all classic horrors were low budget with shitty fake blood and poor acting (this strangely enough makes a good horror film) so this won't appeal to classic fans, but it still appeals to me since I saw Jason X and loved that, as did I like H2o and Jeepers Creepers. Modern horrors can work, just not if you really dig the cheese of the old ones, these films will never affect you like the first Elmstreet's or 13th's.
On a different note, Becca was brought up on Freddy and I was brought up on Jason so this when we watch it will be like an old firm game :P |

I agree 100%, the modern-day big budget Horror film is completely aimed at the American teen market (soundtracks especially), and this film was no exception. I'm sure fans of the original movies will say it was terrible but any film made today based on a film genre which began 25 years ago will never live up to the standards of previous films.
What it does do however, is introduce new audiences to the original movies which can only be a good thing. This was the first Freedy/Friday 13th film that i have seen and i'm now wanting to get more into the earlier films from the early 80's! |
