In years gone by, a side winning a competition has been granted entry into the next years tournament regardless of league position.
I know there was some uproar about Liverpool doing it a few years ago as Champions League places are pre-allocated, is that now the same in the UEFA cup? *EDIT* havent found anything concrete online, this website has a bit under the mid-table winners segment UEFA Cup Trivia |

They only qualify again if they didn't qualify for any other competition i.e. that mid-table bit is about clubs who finished low down the league and so they got into it again. Rangers will qualify for Champ's League and it all goes down to the co-efficient/inter-toto/champ's league qualifier losers thing, a Scottish club doesn't get the place.
Liverpool didn't qualify for the Champ's League domestically when they won the big cup but got a wildcard into the competition so there were 5 English teams. |

he probably wont be starting though thats the thing but it is a popular bet.
I was gonna do Darche at 35-1 with him scoring first and gers winning 1-0 but i remembered when i bet on the Gers, we fuck it up. So now I am just drinking myself into a stupor and getting primed and ready for the final. MON THE TEDDY BEARS! FOR THERE'S NOT A TEAM LIKE GLASGOW RANGERS, NO NOT ONE AND THERE NEVER SHALL BE ONE! |

I think your right
it is a pain in the arse for teams as it starts so early and can be troublesome for a teams season starting so early. It brings the revenue in though once you get going however. Shocked it seems only Hibs are wanting in. |

I just think the game was there for the taking tonight. They had their top scorer out and if Rangers had gone out and tried to get at them then they maybe could've got the goal and THEN defended. Zenit weren't playing their best.
But no, playing for penalties again and they got shown up. Might've had a little bit of respect if they'd treated it like a final but they can go fuck themselves. A victory for football. |
