Rangers vs FBK Kaunas
Anyone heading along to this then?
I shall be like. Not feeling totally confident about this one, Think we will win but not in the way we probably should. We dont have creativity...Ferguson or not...we didnt last year and we still dont this year. Interesting to see what reaction Miller gets. I personally will be backing him. I dont care where ya come from but when anyone puts on the Rangers shirt I back them to the full. Any ideas on how tickets are selling? I HATE it when Ibrox is not at least 45,000 in terms of attendance for games. They are shite. Also, anyone gong to Rangers v Liverpool on Saturday? I will be too! Gonna be my last game at Ibrox for a while as I start a new job next week and Saturdays are a day I work so until I sort something out, no trips to Ibrox for a while Lame. |

We only lost one and that was 1-0 to Shalke (Sp?) away from home.
Won the rest but havent trounced anyone in them. Not that I pay too much to friendlies and their results. I hope we hitthe ground running but wont worry too much if we dont as I have the feeling there will be fresh additions to the team before the September deadline. We WILL sign Davis...it will be 10 minutes to midnight and it will be for £500k morethan Fulham actually want. Typical Rangers. Think we will win 1-0 on Wednesday personally. 2-0 would be a great result however and I would come away delighted if we got that. Cannae count your chickens in Europe anymore. Less diddy team kicking about these days. |

we beat Clyde, Raith and Airdrie all by one goal.
have been very average in those games, in Germany we had a couple of wins against lower teams but was disappointed to see us playing the UEFA 10 men behind the ball formation against Schlake. nice to see McGregor back in goal and to have got his howler out the way against Raith. |

I hope we go out of europe before christmas this year. Seriously. I think we can be good enough to win the UEFA Cup by next year if we don't burn out like we did last season and I can see that coming since Walter hasn't strengthened the defence or midfiled and we're already missing Barry and a few other for the start of the season. Plus big 50p heed davie weir surely can't play 40+ games again this season? And carlos is injured just now
Then we have naismith out for a while, and glass man damarcus will break on us every few games. Take the league back from the 'tic, domestic treble this season... Then next season we can do it properly and pump oor way to the final of the UEFA cup and win it properly. Hopefully! haha |

Surely being in the UEFA Cup again would be considered a failure? It means we wouldnt be in the Champions League and I know where I would rather be! Getting to the UEFA Cup Final was great and all but I was gutted coming back from that Lyon game and going out of the Champions League. It is where it is at. We wont win it but you gotta be in it to at least try. Being in the UEFA Cup next season or any season is failure for a club the size of us. Should at least be thinking about the Second round just like Celtic have done 2 seasons in a row. |

Am i right in saying we made more money in prizes from European competition that Celtic this season?
thats not really a failure. lets face it, id rather we get knocked out UEFA in a tight game, then get humped by a far superior side in the CL. im with Kieran mind, this year i want to see domestic success, more so than two cups. |

what I see as a failure was the way we performed last year. It is a miracle we got that far in the first place! Look, being realistic, we always get humped in the Champions League. We don't have the depth of squad needed to compete, or the quality needed at the moment. If we have a fully fit Stevie Smith with a season under his belt, and someone on the other side to replace Horse Puss er I mean Kirk Broadfoot, that would be a start. We also need a re-inforced midfield so we don;t always rely on Barry Fergusoin. Every time he had a stinker of a game or was posted AWOL, the whole team had a shit game. I love Barry, but that type of reliance isn't on.

I'd rather Celtic get Top 16 every year now and somehow crack the Top 8, Seville was great but it wasn't to be and it was only so good because it was a one off, doing that every year would be pretty shit in comparison. I love the Champ's League, it feels like progress even if you don't go THAT far. The Barca games last year in the last 16 and Milan before that were brilliant. We nearly did it against Milan too. Top 8 is the next obvious milestone. Wanting UEFA cup runs with 0-0's and penalties doesn't show much ambition guys! Last edited by Johnny5 : 29th July 2008 at 10:44 AM. |

Parkhead is one of the most difficult places to come and get a result in the whole of Europe.
Even so, Top 8 is almost banking on expecting winning/drawing away from home at somepoint, so you're right, sarcastic comment or not. I think we've proved that in the league format in the Champ's League you don't need results away from home as long as you hit form at home. Knockout football is different. |
