SPL Referee's Pay Dispute

I don't know what to make of this.

BBC SPORT | Football | Scottish Premier | No strike from Scottish referees

On the one hand, I believe if you want the best people for the job you have to offer high wages to attract the best. Although £600 to referee a game sounds alright to me (particularly as it's part time work), I'm a student and live off of way less than that so my standars are clearly lower

However, I also feel that you should be paid according to the standard of work you produce and in all honesty I feel that the standard of refereeing in the SPL is by far excellent, meriting such a pay increase.

Does anyone think that a pay hike will improve standards of refereeing and we will not see as many glaring errors? Maybe referee's should be full time, making it their only job. I'm undecided.

I think it should be performance related, say £300 flat fee regardless, then £100 for every mark out of 5 given by an independent panel.

Full time refs. because then they have to be helf fully accountable for their actions and if they fuck up big time they are in with a chance of losing their livelyhood, same as any footballer.
