BBC Sport - Football - Raith Rovers defeat Aberdeen in Scottish Cup replay
Raith are my 'second' team so I'm well chuffed for them. Games like this validate the argument for extending the SPL in my opinon. Raith, Dundee, ICT and Dunfermiline have given great accounts of themselves in cup games this year. Teams like Ross County and Queen of the South are of a comparible quality to most bottom six premier league teams also. I reckon a 16 team SPL would be fantastic with no dillution of quality. What are everyone elses thoughts? |

The first division is an absolute horror show if you don't bounce back up the year after you end up there and the likes of Dundee, Dunfermline etc could easily hold their own given the chance. 3 16 team divisions with 2 up 2 down would be much better than the current set up in my opinion and would level the playing field a bit for clubs that are struggling in the 3rd at the moment. In other news, what happened to your lot tonight? Last week you were title contenders! St Johnstone for 3rd :P |

We were fucking awful, really. I was laughing and cheering the Saintees on for a 6th goal by the end.
Taking nothing away from you guys though, you played well. Typical fucking Hibs. The faintest whiff of success then this happens. |

![]() That result has been coming for a while, just hope we don't shit the bed like hibs and fuck up our other 2 games in hand. In regard to SPL extension, I have always been in favour. Any lost revenue due to having less old firm visits is worth risking as a drop to the 1st div will result in a bigger loss and no current SPL team can say they are safe. I rekon Saints would be just as well off as we'd have 4 games against Dundee teams which attract a fiar amount of fans as it is. it makes no difference to the money men if the stadium is filled with old firm fans or Dundee/Dundee UTD fans, full is full. The Old Firm could presumeably charge more for the 2 old firm games per season as they currently do for 4. |
