My Boating Arm's live debut! (08/11)
Yakuza The Killing Spree My Boating Arm Monday 8th November Dundee Rep Theatre Cafe 9PM £3 Yakuza "... a fine mix of Sonic Youth, Jon Spencer and The Fall..." Influenced in equal measures by the experimental noise meltdown of Sonic Youth, the melancholy country feedback of REM and the demonic rock 'n' roll boogie of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, the band set about composing an intelligent, emotive and powerful set of songs that embraced these disparate influences while seeking to transcend them, a quest which informs their songwriting process. Have previously played with Therapy?, Oxes and Electric Eel Shock, released a split 7" with Mercury Tilt Switch and recently released their debut album "One Nation Under Awed". "...a fine mix of Sonic Youth, Jon Spencer and The Fall, Yakuza are adventurous and work, for that they should be applauded ..." - Blank Magazine "...not just guitar strumming punk wannabes but talented young guitar strumming punk wannabes.." - Uberdog Magazine "they seem intent on making you want to rip your ears off, such is the sheer unrelenting ferocity of their melodic, post whatever noise. Case in point being the mighty ‘Everyone Thinks I’m a Dinosaur’. Tonight it sounds anthemic, like it could shift mountains." - creativeni.com live review of Yakuza supporting Therapy? "You won't believe it, but all present could swear to you that the spirit of the Minutemen and Gang Of Four (pre Karate Kid soundtrack era, naturally) was on that stage...[yakuza] assail our senses in a violent yet pleasurable manner, and by the end there is a man down the front dancing like a spastic in a hurricane - altulster.co.uk live review http://www.scream4yakuza.co.uk The Killing Spree "Do you like Fast-Slow-Quiet-Loud-Quiet again-Louder music? How about muscle? Is heaviosity important to you? If so, you will crumble pathetically before The Killing Spree's steely gaze. Rightly considered to be the most important, influentenial and purely undeniable of Belfast's angular, confrontational, post-hardcore, angular, punk rock angle-bands, these three virile noizeniks have irrefutable stud credentials in terms of riffage, and the beats could maim the average adolescent. Expect new directions everytime they mount the stage. The power of the spree compels you!" - the obsequious bastards http://www.thekillingspree.com My Boating Arm Dundee rock. Um...come and laugh at our feeble attempts at The Rock on the occasion of our first gig. You'll love it. Please come along. xx |
