E3

All you favourite computer game websites taking painfully long to load up? It can only be E3!

Lots of cool games and details. Fire Emblem for the Wii. yay!

Was interested to read about the PS3 controller. They've abandoned the bizarre boomerang design and stuck to the basic Dual Shock controller. To this they've added tilt/motion sensitivity, and idea that they got from Somewhere. BUT they've lost any rumble feature, which I think is a big mistake, since the rumble has become a big part of gaming.

On the Wii front (snigger) they've got rumble on both the remote and the nunchuck attachment (which is also motion sensitive). plus the controller has a built in speaker which is a kinda cool little addition.

Quality DS games are coming thick and fast with Starfox, Yoshi's Island 2, Zelda and a very pretty looking 3D reimagining of Final Fantasy III. yum!

Lots more details to sift through... what caught your eye?

Zelda caught my eye because they're using the cel-shaded graphics, aren't they? And although I know a lot of people disapproved, I think they'll work really well on the DS

Some news here

Yeah interesting to see that Sony reverted to their original PS2 design albiet with wireless capabilities and the tilt recognition. That sounds kinda cool but there is not way i'm paying £400 for a PS3. Wii aka Revolution all the way thank you very much.

The Live Anywhere network from Microsoft does sound pretty exciting though, cross platform mayhem. OMG counterstrike on console against PC based players. That'd be interesting.

From what I understand the PS3 with a 20Gb hard drive is to be £340 and its the 60Gb version that's to be £400 or just over £400.

yep thats pretty steep for the ps3. Is it not mostly that fancy blue ray dvd player thats making it so costly? If so, i doubt it's worth putting in. Also i think the new 2d mario game should be added to th list of ds stuff to look forward to.

I was watching the Nintendo conference live, try and find the video, it's the most exciting thing in computer games for ages.
Footage of Super Mario Galaxies, the Wii Zelda game, just some AMAZING games.
They showed off the speaker feature (IN THE CONTROLLER) on Zelda and you'll hear the twang of the bow and arrow and the sound will travel to your tv and you'll hear the contact there!
They also had a demo of the tennis game and had a doubles match, looked so much fun and easy to pick up and play!
Metroid and Red Steel (new FPS) looked stunning with the controller..... Point and shoot! Red Steel in particular looked amazing.
And they showed this disaster game and there was a big volcano and i didn't take in any other information because it was so beautifully made and the graphics were just incredible.
The Wii is intended to be connected to the net 24/7 (while only using up the same power as a small lightbulb) and that means you can get messages from Animal Crossing and stuff (they said a bit about this)
And the DS roster, well wow! Some awesome, awesome stuff. DIDDY KONG RACING!!!!!
It'd be cool if they did a Paper Mario for the DS, i think it'd work well.
Also, the price is rumoured to be mega cheap compared to the others, we're talking $250 here. That's like £140 these days, but we always get ripped off so it'll be closer to £200 i reckon, but not over it.. that's awesome for a new console.

The PS3 looks fucking shite apart from MGS4.

http://www.gamespot.com seems to be the best free way to check out all the videos and coverage, you get all the live streams of conferences etc.

Nintendo are kings. Kings.

I totally forgot about the boomarang controller when i watched a video bout the motion sensors yesterday. thank fuck for that. I agree, shame about the loss of the rumble but hopefully this will more than make up for it.

perhaps they'll have some clever gyro-forcefeedback, so when you try and tilt it, it resists, that would be awesome.

For me E3's all about the PC Games though, this year Crysis, C&C3, NWN2, STALKER are the ones grabbing my attention. lots of lovely screens, vids and talk of cool features.

Things are really looking good for Nintendo just now. They are completely dominating the hand held market in Japan just now selling DS to PSP 2:1. I think the fact that they don't have the financial backing the other two big companies have is forcing them to reinvent themselves and to bring something new to the table. It's exciting. I really hope they can pull it off.

Out of all I saw, that game intrigued me the most. Hopefully it'll be a launch title. Excite Truck looked like a great deal of fun, as did the Wii Sports and WarioWare. And then you have Red Steel, Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Resident Evil, Duck Hunt, Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Pilot Wings, Project Hammer, Sonic and a bunch more.

Here's the standard wii controller, which will come in handy for all the pre-gamecube games you'll be able to download:
