Recommend games to each other [mega]thread
Okay looking at the popular threads and a lot of them have the "Top [n] [something] ever!" theme; a thread of this nature about games is conspicuous by it's absence. There may actually be one but the search feature on this site is so fucking awful I've not bothered to check.
Anyway, this thread is to recommend awesome games to people. Old or new, popular or obscure, critically acclaimed or reviled, whatever. Old classics people might not have played is especially good due to the ease of emulation on modern pc's. Top hit for popular emulators for various platforms; The Emulator Zone - Your Source for Emulation! Here's some classics I loved to kick you off; Speedball 2 - Note: Original, not 2007 remake. D/Generation Chrono Trigger Secret of Mana Sensible Soccer Another World Flashback The Chaos Engine Rick Dangerous Jet Set Willy Turrican series Anyone play/love/hate these? a lot of the old mega drive games i used to love haven't really aged well... but toejam and earl is still great, particularly on 2player
baldurs gate on pc was great, g-police games and medievil on ps1 and ico (the more well known 'shadow of the collossus' is kind of a sequel to this) on ps2 is/was the best 1 player game ever. if you have a ps2 buy it seriously. |

Fallout/2
Starfleet 2 on Mega Drive (I think it was on Amiga etc too), mining could get tedious but so fun and engaging. Star Trek Birth of the Federation - fun on 2 player, can be very difficult to impossible on some settings. Phantasy Star 2 Striker 96 - best footy game on PS1, although it was released very early so was OOP by the time all the drooling fanboys bought a PS1 and raved about Pro Evo ![]() X:Com Enemy Unknown - you simply must own this game Columns - the ignored cousin of Tetris |

Chrono Trigger is probably my favourite game, although Shenmue and Half-Life 2 contest it a fair bit.
My list would be: Shenmue Pilotwings (SNES or 64) FarCry (PC) Warcraft II Sid Meier's Pirates The Movies (about 14 million times better than The Sims, not the same makers but comparisons can be drawn) Power Stone Soul Caliber 2 Knights Of The Old Republic Monkey Island I & II Grim Fandango Last edited by Johnny5 : 9th October 2007 at 04:08 PM. |

Advance Wars is a fucking astounding game. Don't be fooled by it's cuteness; after a few levels it gets stpidly difficult (for me anyway)!
